Marine humidity and salt in the air create corrosive environments. When high or low temperatures and hazardous gases or dusts enter into the mix, the stresses and safety concerns make it difficult for control systems, security systems and operations to operate properly.

As the makers of the world’s first line of industrial-grade air conditioners and related HVAC equipment, Aero Conditioner Company has developed an entire line of rugged equipment specifically to protect your controls and keep your operations running while minimizing the costs of maintenance and repairs.

1. Corrosion Resistance

Aero Conditioner Company takes many steps to resist corrosion:

We make all cabinets of 316L stainless steel and not 304 because it rusts, especially in the presence of common byproducts of petrochemical operations such as hydrogen-sulfide gas.

To help resist acidic and caustic corrosion as well as that from salt and humidity, Aero Conditioner Company protects all condensers and evaporators with a low-porosity (close to zero) epoxy coating (e-coat) electrostatically applied by immersion and then baked. We also coat the refrigerant tubing and joints with anti-corrosion material.

To lengthen the life of the fan and blower motors, we use customized totally-enclosed motors with 300-series stainless-steel shafts mounted on ball bearings and designed with Class F insulation for continuous duty at 65°C.

We protect the controls of ordinary-location units inside a sealed NEMA 4X/IP56 box and those of hazardous-location units in a water-tight NEMA 7 box.

To avoid corroding the condenser by mixing condensate water with the corrosive gases and particles in the air, Aero Conditioner Company will make the units with dry condensers by using fans without slinger rings (which throw the condensation back onto the condensers in commercial-grade units).

In those units with heat, Aero Conditioner Company provides integral electrical-resistance heat with corrosion-resistant incoloy tubular elements (not light-weight wires) in capacities of 5KW or 10KW.

Our heavy-duty backwardly-inclined blower wheels are made of an especially strong polyamide 6 plastic reinforced with 30% glass fiber — to make them stronger, quieter, and more energy-efficient, better able to handle heavy sand and dust loads in the air, as well as more corrosion-resistant than almost any other type of wheel (particularly propeller types made of aluminum, or with slinger wheels).

II. Easy Maintenance and Repairs Without Special Spare Parts

Aero Conditioner Company makes a special effort to design its products with as few proprietary parts as possible so that the user can obtain replacements — or adequate substitutes — locally. Therefore, we eliminate electronic parts not just to minimize vulnerability to electrical problems, but also to assure that you can easily and quickly repair the units.

To help keep equipment running under isolated conditions, particularly in emergencies, we also design the units to accommodate temporary repairs in the field without spare parts.

Using only mechanical controls also helps eliminate the need for specially-trained technicians to service our equipment.

III. Durability

Because Aero Conditioner Company makes its air conditioners for extreme applications, we use over-sized and heavy-duty components that last longer than those of ordinary commercial and residential air conditioners.

Since Aero Conditioner Company designs its units specifically for durability and operations under extreme conditions, they retain their energy efficiency under such conditions. Aero Conditioner Company air conditioners are the “greenest” under harsh conditions.

Reminder about “Explosion-Proofing”

Even when Aero Conditioner Company adapts its units for flammable and explosive environments, they retain all their other harsh-duty advantages and durability. Therefore, they afford a far better return on investment than do residential or commercial units modified for hazardous locations. In addition, Aero Conditioner Company makes a special priority the development and production of robust Division/Zone 1 air conditioners, with and without heat.
